I Can’t Believe It’s Not CAD
This choker consists of 10 separate pieces linked together, wrapping all the way around your neck. At its shortest it is 12” long and with the 5” extension, 17” at its longest. If you’d like the chain to be shorter or longer please add the length you’d prefer in the notes section at checkout.
If you asked me what this collection means I’d say it’s a celebration of handmade jewelry. But if you asked me on a deeper level I’d say:
Creating jewelry by hand is one of the oldest art forms. Honoring ancient techniques allows us to connect with the root. In my opinion, that no one asked for, using technology like CAD and 3D printing sucks the soul out of this ancient practice. Using computer programs to achieve something as sacred as jewelry making allows just about anyone to become a jewelry designer over night. (I won’t even get into how much outsourcing is actually going on in the industry, the real ones know.) I often wonder if the meaning of jewelry has become lost on society, with profit and consumption taking its place.
This collection represents taking the back roads to get to your destination, instead of the freeway. I’ve stayed committed to taking the scenic route throughout my career, and I’ve gained so much from doing so. I’m not designing jewelry based on trends, or what’s selling. I design habitually from instinct, and I’ve created my own language in the process.
love,
Kt
